WCS seeks to follow the laws and regulations set forth by the State of Delaware and Department of Education with regards to medication administration and/or assistance.
All medications that are brought in from home must be in a bottle with a current pharmacy label accompanied by a note from the parent authorizing administration times and amounts. Over the counter medications must be in an original bottle.

Medications to Be Given During the School DayPrescription and over the counter medications can be given during the school day by the school nurse. Students may not carry prescription or over the counter medications with them at school. Teachers may not dispense prescription or over the counter medications.
Complete the attached form, follow the instructions on the form and return it to the school nurse if your child needs medication during the school day. Over the counter medications such as ibuprofen and acetaminophen can be authorized using the Student Emergency Card as well as the Medication Consent form. ![]()

Medication Assistance on a Field Trip or Other School Sponsored EventMedication Assistance by a trained staff member may occur during school sponsored events that are not during regular school hours and/or are off school premises (such as field trips and sports practice).
Over the counter medications require a prescription from the doctor when used for a field trip and/or other school activity outside the normal school day. All medications must first be given to the school nurse. ![]()

Emergency MedicationsWilmington Christian School policy and State of Delaware
Department of Education regulations permit middle and high school students to carry and
self-administer medication only for the treatment of life threatening illness such as asthma, anaphylaxis, and
diabetes. Written parental authorization
must be on file with the school nurse in order for a student to carry and
self-administer medication in these circumstances.
Authorization must be renewed annually. Use of an emergency medication at school requires notifying the school nurse. ![]()
